Willis wrote on Mar 22, 2011, 22:12: I didn't get the free game either. Turns out there is a store & affiliate on the link to the registration page that is only there if you downloaded from the Best Buy page. After you register directly through Intel, it appears you are SOL on the free game.
Edit: So I used another email to register with the affiliate link, and I must say, this is a massive failure of a platform. It installs a shortcut on the desktop (for the games you install), which won't work if the AppUp application is not running. To launch a game, it appears to require an http call for authentication. Further, you cannot have multiple accounts on one machine. Data is store in ProgramData instead of in the user profile, and you cannot change your login name after you have successfully logged in once. Their support page is not at all integrated, and you must register a separate account. This looks like a horridly done jumbled mess of Java, .NET and sqlite. Massive failure of an app platform, uninstalled. Intel + Best Buy + DRM-laden app store + a clone of an old flash game, and somehow this resulted in an unpleasant experience? I am shocked. Shocked, I tell you! |
