I'm guessing that everyone there pronounces it the way Carmack does. On a similar topic, it's id, not iD (nor ID Id, or i.d.).

As for pwn, I think it indeed should be pronounced the same as own, as it is meant as a goof on the common typo. I and friends sometimes pronounce it powned, but this is meant as a verbal way of expressing the same joke.
