I do online banking from no less than four computers, never had a hardware lock or a key fob.

When I log on to my various bank and loan accounts they know if I'm accessing from a different computer because I get a notification and then asked whether I want to register the current computer with my account.

Dunno if that's really giving me any sort of extra protection but it does happen.
