There is a difference between fault en causation:
-Fail to lock your car: things get stolen and no insurance because your basic security measures failed.
-Fail to protect your IP: same thing, society demands that you take proper measures.
In modern society we accept that things are flawed, and we demand that companies and people take proper measures, it's their responsibility. Otherwise banks wouldn't need safe's, right?
This all on the assumption that they did fuck-up themselves of course. |
