I bought my parents a Kindle 3G with the intention of also finding out whether or not I wanted one for myself. I love the way it works, love the "ink" and screen, but it also made me realize that I don't give a shit or not if something looks like paper. I've been reading monitors with a bright white background for nearly my whole life. So for myself I got the free Kindle for Android app and share the account with my parents.
So now I read on my phone in bed (back lit, the Kindle isn't) before I go to sleep. Recently finished Ender's Game and now I'm reading the Quicksilver series.
