14. Re: Quote of the Day Jan 10, 2011, 17:17 Acleacius

I guess not everyone gets it...it's the industry, not so much the individual, which was sort of the point. Despite the fact that many many talented people exist in the industry, there is not much innovation or independence.

I would have guessed 1998(maybe 1997), this is when m$ started overthrowing the industry offering PC developers a huge funding and obscene completion bonuses. This to push crap console ONLY games out, just so the shitbox 2001 would have a catalog (mostly crap iirc) to compete against Sony.

If there is one single, biggest problem in the industry it's m$. They use the same techniques with funding of publishing dollars, to manipulate and control all developers. From brutal development schedules to the low quality working conditions and emotional strain on individuals, and their families.

Sure publisher wanted every bit of money they could get out of developers, just like record company publishers but becasue of m$ much of the work is done outside the developer by third parties. This was due to those heinous, cruel and inhumane schedules m$ forced on the industry. It was impossible for games to be completed so third party animator and artist (among others) had to be used if there was any hope of completing on time.

Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history.....and they are stupid. Dwight D. Eisenhower
