It isn't like X-COM lacked fast-moving slime monsters.
But yes, as I mentioned this shows nothing of X-COM. That doesn't mean it won't have it. In any case this is using the game as inspiration. It's not a direct sequel by any means, unlike Fallout 3.
The 50s paranoia vibe (and UFO obsession) seems fitting to me, and seems like something games haven't well exploited, particularly FPS games. I think that alone makes it very interesting. An alien attack in the 50s could make for a stellar game.
Where does X-COM fit in? We'll see.
Had I remade X-COM as an FPS I'd probably stick in a combo between this and the orginal. Set it slightly in the future. I'd have you as a member of the US X-COM corp, which gets obliterated early on and leaves the western world in major trouble. The Chinese X-COM (always a good enemy these days) sweeps in. Less regard for humanity, particularly western humanity. I'm a big fan of third enemies in games, just gives you more to shoot at and more to watch shooting at each other.
So many cool ways to take the X-COM theme. I'm not yet willing to disregard this as one of them. |
