Not everyone is a hardcore gamer.
Indeed, and even some of us who are (ahem...) have overlooked it in the past or thought it wasn't something they would get into. I didn't play it until about two months ago, for the first time. I never got the Orange Box because I lost interest in HL2 after Episode 1. I thought it was sub-par compared to the original material and didn't really have much faith in Ep2. But, as time goes by, you tend to look back at some games, especially really popular ones, and decide to take a look just to see what the big deal is. Thus, I was able to get my hands on Portal in February from a cousin of mine. I played it and thought it was ok, but the latter levels got confusing and lately I haven't had the time to devote to a long play session or the patience. But I didn't want to cheat either and ruin the fun of it if I got the chance to play in the future. Now maybe I can give the DVD back to my cousin and download it so I'll be able to play it at my leisure...
You'd be surprised how many games 'hardcore' gamers don't play...at least not right off the bat...
