Most reviews I've read state that having 100 players in a map doesn't make it epic, it makes the game degenerate into chaos. We noticed this way back in Starseige: Tribes. Once you approached even 32 players, team cohesion would break down and the game would be significantly less fun. Around 20 players was ideal even way back then on those huge, open maps.
