40K MMO would be great...if blizzard did it. The MMO's showing up lately seem to be put together "on the cheap". They keep inching further and further away from what makes an MMO a good product in favor of doing things and fast and cheap as possible and charging top dollar as soon as they can.
I'd be more inclined to try an MMO from launch if the subscription model price was discounted in the early days. $5 for the first paid month, then $10 for the next 3, then 15$ after that.
I picked up warhammer and canceled that during the first month.
Picked up Conan, canceled in the first month.
Champions was on sale for $12 at one point...but the trial of that game scared me away. A great feature to offer but it seemed so careful not to let you play "too much" that the experience was kind of a joke. You never even got to level up and pick 1 new power. Or see what was in store for you down the road... That was disappointing.
And now STO. I like the game but it's not worth $50, and it shouldn't cost $15 a month when 1 of the 2 major factions is basically skin and bones. |
