I have always lives out on the country, in some of the smallest states in the country. I have always had great high speed internet.
It is not universally bad.

And I never said that they service providers and cable and phone companies are perfect. But it is stupid as hell comparing our situation to places like Japan. Physical attributes play a huge role in how things are. It is no different the stupid Europeans* saying "Americans should use more public transportation", ignoring the fact that Public Transportation is very popular in places where the population density is the same as in Europe. It is just not a viable option in low population density areas, I.E. most of the US.

* I am not saying Europeans are stupid, I was referring to the stupid Europeans, just like there are stupid Americans and stupid [RANDOM COUNTRY}.
