That's exactly why I didn't grab Fallout 3 when it was on sale on Steam the other week - I refuse to mess about with GfWL. It slows down the loading of all games that use it and has caused plenty of issues besides.

You don't have to use GfWL with FO3. There's a program (Fallout Script Extender, I think) that lets you launch without GfWL.

Actually you can install and play without ever using GFWL.
