Healthcare reformation is a relatively new idea at the federal level, so anything Obama does will be better than the current situation. Of course people have been clambering for it for years, but it never reached the critical mass required for the public to overpower lobbyists. It's an issue you can *no longer* ignore if you expect to successfully run for office. The government only reacts to an issue when popular dissonance reaches such a level that the government literally fears the population. Enough people are fucking tired of being economically destroyed by a free market which seeks to profit at their expense. Human misery is not a commodity.
Remember Alan Greenspan himself came out not long ago and said that he was wrong in trusting the market to sustain itself. |
