In addition, EA Online has built powerful backend tools that will make micro-transactions a bigger part of the gaming experience. Sigh, yet another artillery barrage on our weakened gaming defenses. The minute they start making small payments part of gaming as a standard feature will be the minute the fun factor dies. What's the point of playing if you can't afford the best weapons? Skill will only get you so far, as the stuff you can purchase will have to give you some sort of noticeable edge to be worth the money. Poor Mr. Uzi will have to put up with Mr. Chaingun raping his face off.
I really hate unfair advantages. Gaming should be about skill and tactics, not about who can afford the best in-game content. Obviously MMORPGs are an exception to some extent; if people want to waste money on cheating the random number generator that's fine with me.
Oh and achievements are lame, take them away, I'd rather have a new hat.
