The console-kiddie rpg has given way to smart sophisticated RPG's with adult themes and moral dilemmas' like Oblivion and Mass Effect, and the bog-standard 3rd-person console action game has given way to the brilliant FPS genre-bending style revolutionized on the PC in games like Bioshock and Assassin's Creed. Okay, so console games are slowly reaching the sophistication of PC games made a decade ago... how is this good for PC gamers again? PC games should be evolving but they are getting held back due to cross-platform development. Hardly a great time to be a PC gamer.
And wtf? I enjoyed Oblivion but since when did it have adult themes and moral dilemmas? I think there's like one moral choice in the whole game and it's in a side-quest.
Oh, and for the hell of it, here's a list of some of the games that came out during the golden age of PC gaming (1996-2000):
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 Fallout 1 & 2 Interstate 76 Starcraft Quake 1,2,3 UT Tribes Planescape: Torment System Shock 2 Deus Ex Total Annihilation Freespace 2 Jedi Knight
If console games ever reach the sophistication of those titles, I'll be impressed.
