I still maintain he's a shitty game designer, even though there are some ex-co-workers that post here and defend him.

Just because DE 2 sucked doesn't mean it was all his fault, he was lead designer on the first game and it's one of the best games of all time.

That's true, but he effectively stated in interviews that all of the things that everyone loved about Deus Ex were the things that were wrong with the game. It was too long, it was too complicated, there were too many ways to do things... He thought they were all mistakes, and he corrected them with Deus Ex 2. He was happy with Deus Ex 2. That's the way I recall it too. The guy needs to put the crack pipe down and step away from computers. All the stuff that Harvey Smith thought was WRONG with DX1 is what made DX1 GREAT... not that dumbed down consolized piece of shit he "made correctly" called DX:IW.
It doesn't matter whether it was Warren or the "in-fighting individuals of the DX1 dev team"... they were right... Harvey was wrong, IMO.
