It is nice to see id still care about this game after being released for a while now.
You have to look at it on a bit of a higher level. Q4TV gets the broadcasting technology on the Doom3 engine. This can be useful for future games, ETQW being one big one. Could even help with RTCW2.
Also, IMO at least, it'll keep the buzz for Q4 tournaments alive a bit longer. The lack of Q4TV was actually a deal-breaker for some tournaments switching back to Quake 3.
They just patched Q3A, RTCW and ET last spring to fix a potential security issue. Now that's service.
They also recently released universal binaries for ET and I believe Doom3; just another example of their service. They may not crank out a whole new game in terms of addon content like Epic does, but they DON'T just move on and ignore it.
