Oh for christ sake, this is the most poorly conceived analogy I've read in a while. Ok, so just because Winter Games sold like hotcakes, in all its CGA glory, but the company is not around today, then any company is likely to be gone in 20 years? Steam is a different entity altogether.
Its like iTunes more than it is a collection of games, and Valve doesn't need to be behind the wheel of it forever for it to survive...sure, Valve might be gone in 10 years, but I assert that Steam, or an evolution of it, will exist for as long as PC gaming is around. Digital downloads are the future. And if in 10-20 years Valve and Steam are truly no more, then you go and pirate the damn game that you paid money for and continue to enjoy it.
I can't imagine that anyone would want to play CS:S in 20 years. Frankly, its not as good a game as Winter Games anyways.
