I have high hopes (prayers) of the Pre-Vis thing they released a month or so back, but lord only knows if it'll be a PC release as well. Ummm... that pre-vis thingie is a mere development tool for devs to -as the name says- pre-visualize stuff.
As I understood it and as far as I can remember, it was first made for Lucasfilms so they could make previews of certain CG settings and scenes. It's supposed to save them a lot of money because doing a preview with that pre-vis thingie is supposedly rather quick and easy while redoing a whole scene in case the director decides to dump it is not.
Lucas as a whole then restructured and reevaluated their entire business and company and looked for ways how to make better use of synergy effects between Lucasfilms and the LucasArts division. That's how pre-vis ended up at LucasArts because with the increasing budget that is required for AAA games, they're hoping to save money and development time by making preview builds according to the lead designers' visions. It's supposed to make it easier for the artists and other designers to shape the game as the project leads have envisioned it.
See. It's a dev tool, not a game. I would guess that the reason LucasArts went public with pre-vis a few weeks ago is that they're hoping to license it to other developers and publishers (and movie makers, of course).
