And again, Batman, let's say this entire thing you thought up works.
We're playing CTF. As a defense your team makes a "wall of portals to a pit" and my team is completely unable to put a portal on the wall behind it to get into your territory.
No you also can't get out of your territory. So who was really helped by this? Was your side? No.
In any case, let's also pretend your theory of portals in thin air works. Why can't I shoot a portal over your portal so I fall elsewhere?
And lastly, let's keep it to the rules the video defined - portals on hard surfaces only. How about we also make it so if I shoot a portal at your portal my portal replaces it. Nice, simple thing, right? Easy to do, and makes a decent amount of sense? Then if you try to set a trap I can just shoot it away. However, if you try to set an escape for yourself I can commandeer it and make it lead to a pit. So you think you're making a grand escape with the flag to a portal you already set up, not realizing I replaced it with one leading to a pit.
Fun, right? Avoids all these insurmountable problems you seem to have?
