121. Re: No subject Jun 3, 2006, 00:22 Riley Pizt

And I do think Riley's a little off on his argument about lack of content.
I am against so-called episodic games when they deliver less in one sitting for more than buying a traditional game at retail on physical media. I haven't played either Sin Episodes or HL2 Episode 1 so I don't know exactly how little content each game has. However, going by the developers' own estimates, $20 for only four hours of gameplay with at least a six month break before being able to continue or finish the story is not worth it in my book. I paid less than that for complete games like FarCry, Painkiller, and Area 51 (half the price in some cases) all of which lasted longer than four hours. If Valve and Ritual dropped their prices to $5 or $7 per episode within six months or a year at most, it might be a similar value proposition (although the long break in the gameplay would still be there because the games won't be complete even in one year), but given that the games are on Steam, that won't happen.
