See, you're paranoid. Your guns don't keep "nutjobs" "outta" your house any more than pink elefants. I typically don't defend myself because I don't have to defend myself. That is one of the great accomplishments of civilisation.
What fairy tale gated community do you live in? I live in the real world, where people break into houses and people die. Let me know what city you live in so that I can move there and live in ignorant bliss also!
