The original Driver (on PC) had its strong points, and I personally thought it was a lot of fun and looked pretty spiffy to boot (especially the replay camera capability), but it was very very (very very very) frustrating to have the missions and free roam all immediately end if the car flipped over. Really, there are two workable solutions: break with reality and have a key that rights the car (and\or places it back on the nearest roadway) or make out-of-vehicle travel possible. The first solution is fairly straightforward and simple, the second very complex and easily mishandled. They just picked the wrong solution.
Granted, out-of-car capability does give you the opportunity to get other vehicles "on the fly", and not be stuck with the same vehicle for the duration of your drive (perhaps remedied by garages or something were you could swap), but sometimes you just have to stick with your strengths.
