Re: Halloween on Sunday |

Guess we'll have to plan for both Saturday and Sunday around here. Sigh. It's absurd... the people complaining about Halloween don't even know its background. Of course, they don't know the proper background for why Christmas and Easter are celebrated when they are either, so why am I surprised? (For those without a clue -- neither Christmas nor Easter are celebrated anywhere close to the actual time of year they occurred... but they do happen to coincide with Jewish and other non-Christian celebrations. Funny that.) Better than that, Christmas (Yule) and Easter (Ostara) are both of pagan descent. Christmas is basically a celebration of winter solstice (when summer starts approaching) and Easter celebrates the start of spring. March 21st is when that happens, and when is Easter? First sunday after March 21st.
Go figure... Christians celebrate the two biggest pagan ceremonies in the history of ever. Even the eggs and bunnies come from there.
Read up on it, and show off to your friends at http://www.witchvox.com/holidays/ostara/ostarahistory.html
