Now I just need to get a hang of MIG welding so I can replace a couple body panels...) Here's a quick tip on that (in case you don't already know this): if you're buying a little MIG machine for yourself, don't go for the cheap ones that can only use the flux core wire - in other words, they don't need the bottled gas. Believe me, it's worth the extra trouble and $$ to rent a small bottle of gas. That flux core wire is crap.
Also, and this is very important, if you get a little 120 volt machine, do not use more than one short extension cord on that sucker. If possible, plug it directly into the wall.
Oh, and get a good helmet, seeing what you're doing is helpful. And are you trying to choke that thing? Relax those forarms and hands... that's it, see how easy that is? I almost forgot, make sure your welding hat is really high and pointy, when you wear it to the bank you want those cute tellers to wonder if your real name is Beldar. One last thing, and this is important, when you finish a weld and the metal is glowing orange, IT DOES NOT TASTE LIKE ORANGES!! DO NOT LICK THE ORANGE METAL!!!! I CAN NOT STRESS THIS STRONGLY ENOUGH!!! DO NOT LICK THE ORANGE METAL!!!!
Other than that - practice, practice, practice.
