20. Re: Really... Feb 7, 2004, 11:27 Creston
If the game moved for you and shopped for you, it would be a screensaver.

My biggest issue with DS was that death meant nothing once you got a ressurect spell (which was ridiculously early, like level 5 or so). Oh, one of my guys died. Click on ressurect. Guy wakes up. Walk over to loot, and hit Z. Guy picks up all his loot, re-equips it, and continues fighting. If death doesn't mean anything, why should you give a fuck about what happens in the combat?

Yes, the Z button was great for the "Pick up all loot", but it took away one of the most frightening experiences in (the original) Diablo, that of dying and having to go down to get your loot back. There have been plenty of times that I called a buddy and asked him to log into my game with his level ++++ dude to help me get my stuff.

I also hated the fact that fighters in DS got plenty of XP, but your mages would lag behind because they simply didn't do as much damage. For a game that pretended to reinvent roleplaying, it sure held to "damage done" as the only way to gain XP, which was retarded.

Hopefully DS2 will improve matters, but I'm not holding my breath.
