Yes, I would say go for it, since nothing major seemed to be bonkered. Just things needed tweaking here and their. And like nin said, somebody is always going to complain. I for one will nit-pick about little things
It also makes sense to do it over the weekend, when less news appears, in case you do brake something! But you also then have to be doing all this crap over the weekend, like nin said.
How easy is it to switch back and forth? If it is not that hard, you might just try switching to it, in the late evening when traffic is down(like tonight), and throwing the old layout back up during heavy traffic flow if things seem to not be working out proper like.
*edit* nin, I hit 1152x768 on my 17 incher (it is an actually 17.1 viewable screen) I would go up one higher, but the refresh rate one step higher is only 60hz, and that is to hard on my eyes.
1600x1200 is a little small for me on this monitor, but I had a 20 inch and 1600x1200 was perfect for it (but it died on me!)
