I have my own fair share of mp3s, but I just wanted to discuss the "produce better music and we won't have to download it" way of thought. Look at it this way: if you don't like a certain painting, does that make it ok to swipe it from the museum and then say you'll pay money for one when "you like" the art? You can't say "make better stuff and then it'll be worth money" because that's completely subjective. While I might not think a Lifehouse CD is worth much, simply because I don't like their music, there sure are a hell of a lot of people out there who WOULD pay for it. It is nice to see someone trying to put forth a valid logical argument against stealing.
Problem is, anybody that wants to steal will use any excuse based on made up rules/reasons to justify their theft.
