Well, I normally wouldn't even bother to flash a reccommendation, especially one that will date me as much as this one, but...

...if any of you remember "Dark Castle," you may want to give "Trine," a spin. The mechanincs are very much like DC with an amazing 3D graphic update, and a few twists in the gameplay. The writing, like Torchlight, isn't by any means stellar, but the game itself more than makes up for it. Very clever and inventive. First side-scroller I've enjoyed since Super Mario64.
