ARMA II Interview

ArmA II's Ivan Buchta Discusses His Plans to Create an Authentic Military Simulator on GameZone is an interview with Ivan Buchta, talking with the Lead Designer at Bohemia Interactive Studios about their military shooter sequel. They go into detail about some of the more realistic aspects of the game design as well as the story, game environments, and other gameplay elements. When asked about "confusion" over ARMA II release plans, he expresses no confusion at all: "ArmA 2 is going to be released worldwide for PC in the beginning of this summer. No releases for any other platforms are confirmed at the moment."

Nice justification. Sounds like you don't want to play the game in the first place.

I want it too, but I too am just fine with waiting for it to work before I get it, especially with how long it took them to get the first one working. I don't go to an automotive plant and buy a car before they've assembled it, so why should I buy a game before they've completed it? Little patches after release are one thing, but with the German version full of bugs as bad as I'm reading about, the game is going to feel like it's still in development when it hits shelves everywhere else. It's a nice concept to buy it right at the get-go to support future development, but it's a nicer concept to buy it when it's done to support finished development. Otherwise, we're going to continue to buy BIS's ideas and not their finished products. What faith I had from OFP was fully consumed, and then some, with ArmA.
