Call of Duty 6 in 2009

Kotaku reports plans for another Call of Duty game in 2009 beyond Treyarch's upcoming Call of Duty: World At War, which is due later this year. This is based on a revelation during a conference call following Activision Blizzard's latest financial report where CEO Bobby Kotick said the sixth CoD game would be released in 2009 because they will "leapfrog" studios, which suggests that CoD4 developer Infinity Ward will be handling this title. Kotaku mentions a rumor that IW is working on a science-fiction shooter, and speculate whether CoD 6 will be fought with ray guns, though it was also recently reported the developer is cultivating an entirely new intellectual property (story).

Basically, looking at all the previous jungle-themed FPS's of the past, they have all flopped. Clearly jungle combat is uninteresting for the majority.

An extremely poor cause and effect relationship there. Far Cry had a lot of jungle combat, for one. The problem is that the Vietnam games so far have sucked terribly, spearheaded by the equally awful Battlefield Vietnam.

I'd also prefer that you didn't project your psychobabble on me. The reason I am a WWII buff has nothing to do with who won or who lost. I'll give you one reason: the fact that it was the last "traditional" war, where land, sea, and air were all important players in battles, and both sides were overall pretty evenly matched.
