Crytek to End PC Exclusives

There's a Cevat Yerli Q&A on PC Play (thanks Eurogamer) with word that Crysis is likely the last PC-exclusive game from developer Crytek. Though he once again dismisses speculation that a console port of Crysis is in the cards, he places the blame for declining PC game sales squarely on the shoulders of software pirates, a theory that has become pretty commonplace. Word is:

We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis. We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin, a chart leading that is not desirable. I believe thatís the core problem of PC Gaming, piracy. To the degree PC Gamers that pirate games inherently destroy the platform. Similar games on consoles sell factors of 4-5 more. It was a big lesson for us and I believe we wont have PC exclusives as we did with Crysis in future. We are going to support PC, but not exclusive anymore.

I thought they sold more than 1 million copies??? Granted if it were on the 360 they would've sold 3 to 4 million like GoW did most likely. They have every fuckin' right to bitch about piracy! How would you feel if something you worked on was being distributed for FREE by the thousands and there is nothing you can do about it but watch! It would ruin my enthusiasm for the platform as well. Say all you want about piracy how you can do it on the consoles as well but the PC is the easiest platform to pirate for and there is no denying it. All these pirate groups that are all leftover from the C64 days love to brag when they crack the games first, they can be real proud of themselves for killing Crytek's PC exclusive games as well as the 100's of other developers they turned off. Reading articles like this make me sick as I realize PC gaming is dwindling by the day and no matter how much I support it it's failing and there is nothing I can do about it.

Also, if you think 3DR is centering on the PC platform for DNF after all this time in development you're WRONG! I'd bet anything when they finally do release this game some day it's going to be a console game primarily and the PC version will be secondary.
