Amazing what studios do for 500m $ in cash but unfortunately for them, they now have to live with much higher manufacturing costs and lower profit yields.
For the consumer this means now that the DRM-infested, region locked format has virtually won the HD war and will become a monopoly in a few months time. This of course will result in higher priced Bluray discs, BD player which will no longer decrease in price and the need to buy a new player whenever the BDA decides to release an new bluray profile because the BDA was not capable of doing the job correctly the first time around.
This is a victory for the BD industry and not for the consumer! Even more, in whatever product Sony has something to say you can expect heavy DRM protection, premium prices and completely control taken from the consumer. Good choice, people!
