Free Ubi Games

Ubisoft has released three of their older games as free advertising supported releases, offering Far Cry, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and Rayman Raving Rabbids to those with free Ubi.com accounts who are willing to endure some ads in exchange for their free games. The downloads showed up on FilePlanet, where it seems that a paid subscription is required for the download. The games are also available on 3D Downloads (Far Cry, Raving Rabbids, and Sands of Time) and Gamer's Hell (Far Cry, Raving Rabbids, and Sands of Time), and downloading and installing the games works fine. Again, the games do require a Ubicom account, and while the free play is ad supported., I didn't not encounter any ads during a brief test run to see how they are presented.

As far as cracked games go, I purchase all of my games but I can't stand having to put the CD's in the drive. With 3 children running around the odds on them being destroyed are quite high. Therefore I use NoCD cracks all the time. I'm very happy that they are out there and people take the time to do this BUT it's sad that a good percentage of people using them are illegally copying the game first. Then we wonder why PC games are dwindling.

As far as FREE ad supported games go, I'm all for it!!! I hope this takes off and many more older games that aren't easy to find on store shelves any more come out like this. Seeing ad supported games reminds me of when I had dialup and used to use Netzero FREE ad supported internet access! Wow it seeems like a hundred years ago...
