Counter-Strike Prices Hot As A Pistol

A new Steam Marketing Message mentions the frequent updates being made to the Steam edition of Garry's Mod and their World War II week promotion, as well as an update on how the new free market economy in Counter-Strike: Source has revealed a weapon imbalance that will inspire some changes:

It's been six weeks now since the community's purchase habits began driving the pricing of weapons in Counter-Strike: Source. As many of you have probably noticed, the price of the Desert Eagle has been increasing steadily and is now somewhat out of control. This is happening because the Desert Eagle is considerably more useful than the rest of the pistols -- purchasing one of the others is not a smart buy. We'll address this by making the Five Seven, P228, and Dual Elites more effective. The prices of all pistols have been reset to their previous defaults in preparation for this change.

DE should be difficult to aim and do more damage, but a P228 should be extremely accurate at close ranges, more so than trying to swing and aim an M4 to fire a single shot.
That's the point... the deagle is the sniper rifle of hand guns. It allows anyone with virtually no bank to compete with a guy handling a $5000 weapon at a distance which nullifies more expensive weapons. The deagle's accuracy should be toned down severely; hand guns aren't meant to compete with AUGs across football fields, but the deagle does exactly that.

Actually, if they would just look at the actual specs on the actual guns again, they could solve this problem.

The P228 is one of the most accurate handguns ever made. It can shoot across a football field fairly accurately. I mean, aiming at a head or torso means that you could hit it with that gun, especially from a squatting or prone position. The gun is extraordinary. It was a military/police issue only weapon for years.

The DE is not even close to as accurate, but it is obviously more powerful. In fact, the DE would best be described as a gun you shoot 20yards or less, like a shotgun; however the shotgun in CS is accurate to long distance & the combat shotgun is a piece of shit compared to the less expensive regular shotgun, which is not true. In real life, I can buy a Mossberg shotgun for $170 brand new. It will work quite well. But a fully-accessorized Bernelli combat shotgun for $3400 will dominate that mossberg in every facet of shooting, but CS does the complete opposite & their auto-shotgun is almost useless.

The point is that it is Valve who is making the mistakes here. They are *JUST NOW* finding out that some of the guns are not balanced (i.e. the DE). I'm asking, how can that be?
