No Premium Module Program for NWN2?

Following up on recent indications that the Premium Module program is ending for Neverwinter Nights (story), the Premium Module Q&A on Neverwinter Nights Vault talks with Jason 'Elidrin' Lowry, creator of the recently released Infinite Dungeons premium module for the D&D RPG. They discuss the Premium Modules Program and its cancellation, and Jason indicates that the program will also not be continuing in Neverwinter Nights 2, at least in its current form:

It's sad. Everyone who signed the contract knew it was a possibility it could happen. ID was scraped once in the conceptual stage, I got lucky the reason why was an easy fix. The 1.67 patch, some would say free expansion, was a direct result of the premium module system. It's too bad we could not keep that system working into NWN2 and beyond, it was good for both the company and the consumer, a win-win, those are hard to come by.

I rather not see any Premium Modules than Oblivion style $2 a pop for what would have been free 3 years ago.

I agree. It's a nasty precedent and will only encourage devs to lock down the tools needed to make mods.

Though it is kinda interesting that the PS3 may fail compared to expectations and the 360 will also never live up to MS expectations. So the only console which will likely make money is the WII which is going to mine retro gaming rather than mod content.
