Savage 2 Preorder, Beta Plans

S2 Games to Offer Guaranteed Beta Approval with All Pre-Orders of Savage 2: A Tortured Soul (thanks Frans) has news on plans for beta testing for Savage 2: A Tortured Soul. Word is those who preorder the upcoming RTS/shooter hybrid, which will only be sold online as a digital distribution, will be granted automatic access into the upcoming closed beta testing of the project. It is not yet specified when beta testing will begin, but the preorder offer is to run through April 15, 2006, and the full game is scheduled to launch this fall.

Not only does self publishing with digital distribution allow games to be cheaper (not everyone is going to pass those savings onto their customers though) but it allows the development process to be free of corporate suit restrictions that hinder creativity, uniqueness, and innovations in game. It is important that people support efforts like S2's for many reasons.
