Dave Perry Leaves Shiny

Shiny Entertainment founder resigns (registration required) is an article revealing that Shiny Entertainment founder Dave Perry has resigned (thanks Gamecloud and Frans) on the heels of word that parent Atari is seeking to divest itself of some properties like Shiny (story). The related explanation is that this will free up Perry to attract prospective buyers and then return to the company after finding the right deal. Shinys 56 employees are currently working on three games, including a sequel to Earthworm Jim. Here's a bit:

"Atari can go ahead and sell Shiny but I think I can help too because Im on the board of a lot of things. I can bring a lot of parties to the table and I can do that faster if I hit the streets myself," said Perry, who began hitting his contacts Friday and said there was "a lot of interest out there."

"If Im an employee of Atari, then Id be stepping all over them. This way, Im representing a buyer. I can act swiftly and get buyers on the table. I pitched Shiny last time and got $47 million."
