EA Lays Off 1000 Staff? on
1UP follows up on swirling rumors of cuts at Electronic Arts, learning there
have indeed been cuts, though not the thousand rumored: However, EA is
"realigning resources" to meet the "transition of the industry," according to a
spokesperson for the publisher. Approximately 5% of EA staff worldwide will be
affected - and considering EA has about 6500 employees, that means in spite of
the positive spin on things there will still be around 325 people without jobs.
But EA assures us that no announced games will be affected.

Actually, venomhed, I agree with you on all fronts. I also agree that that kind of intimidation is wrong and, as you say, inexcusable.
On the other hand, you can get out of the screwed up environment on your terms (by resigning), and still fight legally if you're so inclined for overtime back-pay. Of course, it helps to have your next gig lined up at the point that you're prepared to resign.
