Quake 4 Mania

A pair of new Quake 4 trailers are now available, along with a flood of new previews of the upcoming shooter sequel in the works at Raven Software. One movie shows off some multiplayer mayhem, and the other a bit of vehicle action. One or both of the movies can be found (in many cases along with a batch of new screenshots), on 3D Gamers, FileFront, Filerush (torrent), Gameguru Mania, Gamer's Hell, and Worthplaying. The previews are from a Quake 4 press event in San Francisco, offering hands-on impressions of both the PC and Xbox 360 versions on 1UP, ActionTrip, Console Gold, Game Chronicles, Gamer's Hell, GameSpot, GameSpy, GameZone, and IGN.

Oh god, you guys weren't lying.

I don't know if it's the video or what, but that vehicle movie did look very 1998. It looked VoodooI era. Entirely flat ground with a few random polygon hills sticking out, terrible sky texture, terrible ground texture that repeats like crazy. Usually I think people overreact and don't remember what the late 90s looked like, but those vehicles, yeah, late 90s.

And the MP demo looks like the UT demo to me. Sharper, but the level looks just like the indoor level from it.

I had such high hopes for this game before the last movie. Then these. This game is just pushing it outside of buying contention with its own promotion.
