Want a blast from the past? It was nine years ago yesterday that John Carmack announced his intention to go back to the drawing board on Quake networking development to create QuakeWorld.

By the time Carmack made this announcement, I was already a Quake 1 CTF addict on my super fast 33.6 modem. Ahh the old days of running around Grizzley Grotto with the grappling hook. The hook was so new they were using the axe model.
