#7 You have to remember that with Xbox 1, all the games were only running at 640x480. With such low resolution, 64MB WAS good enough (with a few compromises) to run most PC games from 2001-2004. With this second machine, they not only have to take into account the much more complex graphics engines in games over the next few years, but they are also moving up to 1024x768 as the minimum resolution. 256MB would be the absolute bare minimum amount of system RAM that they could get away with, and that would become the limiting factor of the machine within 18 months. Putting 512MB in there is reasonable, and even a little conservative.
