'Doom' creator Id soon to start on new game on Reuters (thanks
Gaming Horizon
and Tiscali Games) has scant details on id's next project after DOOM 3, which will
unsurprisingly begin development soon after DOOM 3's completion. The more
newsworthy bit is the revelation that the game will not be another sequel or
remake: LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Video game developer id Software, famed
creators of games like "Doom" and "Quake", will likely start work on its new
project almost immediately after completing four years of work on "Doom 3", its
chief executive says.
In an interview with Reuters on the sidelines of the video game industry trade
show E3 here, Todd Hollenshead said that the game in question was new
intellectual property, and was not a "Doom", "Quake" or "Wolfenstein" game.
He offered few details on the style or content of the game, other than to say
the id team would start serious work on it in short order, possibly a matter of
days, after moving on from the PC and later Xbox releases of the new
"Doom2".

As far as the developers history, I'm more inclined to say at least id will release this game, where as Half-Life 2 might not see the light of day this year. Hate to burst the idiot bubble that you live in, but Doom 3 was also originally scheduled for last year and was also delayed, without reason, for another year.
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
Who's the idiot, Dagok??
id have never announced a release date for DOOM 3, so how can you say it was supposed to be released last year? John Carmack has said "the game is very close now" and we have no reason to doubt him.
Valve, however, did announce their release date for Half-Life 2 (Sept 30 2003) and denied a delay right up until a week before that "deadline". Can we believe anything Valve say?
Gabe Newell just wanted ATI to sell as many video cards before the announcement of the delay as they could because of the $8Mil ATI gave them.
Regardless of all this BS, I will purchase and enjoy both of these games. I trust that DOOM 3 will be out soon, but hold no trust that Half-Life 2 will too. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
Enjoy both!!
