with so many "classic" DOS games, projects like DOSBox will ensure that DOS gaming won't die for quite awhile. There are too many older gamers that remember (fondly) the DOS classics...

Very true. I can remember trying VDMSound to try and get Death Rally working, never did get it to work right (seems to me a common theme amongst people trying to get DOS games to work under Windows NT/2K/XP). The problem is that because DOS gave such direct access to hardware it's very difficult to truly emulate it in a protected environment like Windows without incurring performance and compatibility issues. I think the guy is on to something when he decides to go the whole extra computer route.

What I'd like to see is more companies go the Id route and release the source code to older games to allow for ports to other OS's.
