Out of the Blue

I've heard the comment repeated many times that many are surprised that in the 21st Century that 50 million people can be plunged into darkness by one blackout. The thing I am marveling at is the number of fires that were caused by folks using candles for light. We're a pretty high-tech crowd, so I doubt this applies here, but if you don't even have a flashlight, what are you prepared for?

Not only can the microwave downlink go out of control.

But what will power the cities do when the moon is around the otherside of the earth ?

I know !

1: Lets have huge storage batterys to store power for those times.

2: Fit large rocket motors to the moon then park it over the US as nowhere else in the world requires electrictity, wind, tides or waves.

Methinks some researchers cant tell the difference between their arse and their elbow.
