EVE Online Gold

Simon & Schuster Interactive sends news that EVE Online: The Second Genesis, their MMO space game, has gone gold. They say the NDA on information about the game has been officially dropped as of today, and the official launch is slated for May 6 (sorry for messing up the date at first). They also send along a batch of five new screenshots, and word that the game's producer, Mike "Campion" Wallis will be in the EVE Online IRC Channel today at 5:00 PM EDT to discuss the announcement. The chat will be conducted on the server stratics.frws.com in the channel #eve-online.

Everything is in and is being tested.. but you wouldn't know that since the last time you played the beta was months ago. Wrong, moron. I think you have me confused with someone else. I've been playing the beta for the last couple months. I know what's going on with it. It's got less than 2 weeks of beta time left, and the buggy client is already gold. The game will get so-so reviews at best when it comes out. The high points will be for the graphics and the great potential of the game. The low points will be for the buggy-ness, incomplete features, unbalanced market, unbalanced ships, lag, lag, and more lag. Oh yeah, and the fact that it just isn't all that much fun right now. The game will have a fanboi following that will pay to continue testing for the next several months. At some point the game will either become what it should have been before they decided to release it, or it will continue to have a few thousand subscribers and slowly fade away into obscurity. So sayeth me. So shall it be.
