Horizons Preview

PC.IGN.Com's Horizons Preview offers their thoughts on Artifact Entertainment's upcoming MMORPG after getting to check it out at the Game Developer's Conference. They describe gameplay, the emphasis on tactics during combat, the importance of tradespeople, and other factors that try to set the game apart from the crowd. Included are screenshots and quotes from Artifact's Steve Bowman and Steve Escalante, though these are maddeningly all attributed to "Steve" or "one of the Steve's."

I'm in agreement with Aguita. I'm not into running around looking for shops. More to the point, and as the interview example points outs, I'm not into standing around town hollering that I want to buy equipment. While the "messageboard, 24-7 convenience-mart” approach to player crafting ecomony can certainly diminish the emersion factor of a MMORG, I'd much prefer spending time running around (exploring) the game world outside of towns and cities. Too each their own…
