Grand Theft Auto III Q&As

GameSpot's Grand Theft Auto III Q&A is online chatting with Dan Houser and Leslie Benzies of Rockstar Games about plans to bring the crime-filled hit PS2 game "back to its PC roots" as well as its "mature" themes, what's being improved to take advantage of PC hardware, the game's lack of multiplayer support, controller support, and more. Meanwhile, there is also a Grand Theft Auto III Q&A on GameSpy.com also talking with Leslie Benzies, also discussing PC improvements, controls, and multiplayer, as well as inquiring about the game's system requirements. If that's not enough for someone, almost unbelievably, there's also a Grand Theft Auto III Q&A on PC.IGN.Com talking with (brace yourself) Dan Houser and Leslie Benzies, covering the exact same topics once more, while also asking about support for creating your own custom radio stations using your own MP3s and their projected release date. Each article is accompanied by its own pair of new screenshots, though the links to the full sized shots on IGN are broken as of now.

37. Producers? Apr 22, 2002, 16:36  GreenMarine

Um, dude, 3D Realms is the producer of Max Payne. Your use of the terminology "producer" is incorrect. GTA3 and Max Payne have the same publisher, but the role is very different.

The publisher played no role in the design or implementation of Max Payne. They served the purpose of publishing: boxing, advertising, contracting distributors.

I only point this out because publishers in our industry are very evil. They love to appear as if they were solely responsible for a product. (That isn't the only thing that makes them evil.)

That being said, I agree that not having multiplayer will probably not slow sales. They won't get MY money, though, because I've already played GTA3 on the PS2. If it had multiplayer, I'd buy it. Since it doesn't, I won't. I doubt they care at all.

The process of porting a game to the PC isn't extremely difficult (in most cases) so they probably don't have to sell many copies to cover the development costs.
