Wolfenstein Movie & AGDC Summary

This page on File Planet (registration required) has a movie taken at the 2001 Australian Game Developer's Conference that features Return to Castle Wolfenstein, the upcoming Quake III-engine game being made under id Software's watchful eye at Gray Matter Studios and Nerve Software. The 17 minute movie features id Software CEO discussing the game and offers ShakyCam™ footage of a "detailed walkthrough" of several levels. Thanks Akihiro Imamura and Achtung Wolfenstein!, where they have a summary of some of the goings-on at the conference, including word that Infogrames CEO Bruno Bonnell said the reason they sold publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever is because he didn't want Infogrames associated with a game in which you could kill cops even if it meant losing a large amount of money.

True enough; my mistake. I suppose I assumed that they were doing Wolf because it was on the Achtung Wolfenstein. (Of course, if they were publishing Wolf, they probably wouldn't have had a CD packed in with Maxim featuring "The Girls of Wolfenstein". How I wish that weren't the truth.) Definitely right about the point of him simply selling the rights - god knows every other publisher seems to take an Ariel-like glee in leading developers along and then snatching the feast away at the last second.
