Activision, Maxim Magazine and Hollywood Records Join Forces to Deliver Million Dollar Promotional Campaign for id Software's Return to Castle Wolfenstein(TM) announces the chance to win a computer gaming system and a limited edition, metal tin boxed copy of Return to Castle Wolfenstein in conjunction with the December issue of Maxim Magazine (so 'I read it for the contests' can replace 'I read it for the articles' as your Maxim excuse). Also, the third annual dev/null nethack tournament is getting underway.

No, he was right, it does suck, though I'm sure there's a tacit "FHM is better" argument somewhere in there. There are plenty of "humorous and well-written" magazines that don't involve rampant misogyny, replacement of acquisition of expensive electronic gadgets for honest intellectual growth (let's not forget these are the same people who make Gear: Stuff for Men), glossy photo-spread masturbation material, etc. Just because we're witnessing a (justified) backlash to all things PC doesn't give everyone license to be jerks or frat boys, which is pretty much the only outcome of reading drivel like Maxim.
